Durable Homes

The Midby Companies’ start in the homebuilding industry was born of necessity; a creative solution to closing on land that was assembled for other homebuilders who ultimately weren’t able to fulfill their contracts.  As Broker, The Midby Companies restructured the transactions to bring in outside financial partners and created a new homebuilding company, Durable Homes in 1973.

The newly launched Durable Homes, which was jointly managed by The Midby Companies and a homebuilding partner that Midby was able to recapitalize was exceedingly successful in Southern Nevada.  By 1979, the company was listed by Builder Magazine as one of the nation’s 100 largest home building companies.

Durable Homes built over 5,000 homes in Southern Nevada before being sold in 1985.

Palm Hills

Palm Hills and Palm Canyon were a master planned residential neighborhood that represented the last part of a 6,000 acre assemblage acquired by the Midby Companies during the 1970’s.

Also, the company developed the last phase of the massive 1,600 acre master plan it first put together in the 1970’s though a joint venture with Rhodes Homes in Henderson, Nevada.  This 1,200 single family home development was known as Palm Canyon and Palm Hills.
